Glutenfree Food at Lidl in Germany

Glutenfree buns from Lidl

Obviously, there used to be more gluten-free food at Lidl. We’ve all noticed that over time. And I do miss the cheap gluten-free mozzarella pizza immensely that used to be available in Germany. But instead of mourning old memories, let’s take a look at what gluten-free alternatives you can get at Lidl nowadays.

Fruit and vegetables are always glutenfree

To begin with, I would like to point out the large selection of fruit and vegetables at Lidl. At least in the supermarkets where I shop, there always is a lot on offer. Fruit and vegetables are naturally gluten-free. A colourful and diverse diet will always do you and your tummy good! What other naturally gluten-free options are there at Lidl? You can get beans and chickpeas, corn and other canned vegetables.

As a perfect start to the day and a staple for any breakfast you can get three gluten-free bread rolls for €1.99 (as of 15.4.2023) at Lidl. The Gräfschafter brand offers the varieties “light organic breakfast roll”, “organic Krusti” and “organic grains”.

There are three varieties of gluten-free buns available at Lidl.

All of Lidl’s gluten-free rolls have to be baked in the oven for about 10 minutes, giving you a quick option that you can have on hand for a variety of occasions.

Gluten-free at Lidl: Pasta

While the prices of the gluten-free options at Lidl in Germany have not increased despite inflation, there have been delivery problems in between. The reasons for this could surely be found out if we asked the company. But that’s not what this blog post will cover topic-wise.

If there is no delivery problems, You can buy gluten-free fusilli, gluten-free penne and gluten-free spaghetti for €1.29 at Lidl (as of 15th of Mai 2023). The pasta is made from corn flour and sells in 500g packages.

The products Lidl offers in gluten-free have again been reduced. Finding pasta or buns is next to impossible now at Lidl in Berlin.

Glutenfree pasta costs 1,29€ per package at Lidl in Germany.

Quick gluten-free snacks

Last but not least, let’s look at some snacks: I found the following corn snack for under 1€. The snack seems to be often given to toddlers in Germany and costs 99 cents for a bag. You can also buy salted rice waffles for 85 to 89 cents at Lidl. Also, some of the (vegan) ready-to-eat meals from the fridge and freezer are gluten-free.

Snack like these gluten-free corn sticks are almost essential to get through a day if nothing else glutenfree can be found.

Please remember to always check the list of ingredients of anything you plan to eat. Even if you have been using and eating a specific product for a long time and know that it is gluten-free, it is always possible that some ingredients have been changed by the manufacturer and the product is suddenly no longer safe for you.
