Not so long ago, I was shopping at an Italian supermarket in Berlin. I discovered an Italian brand that was knew to me: “Patarò”. They make gluten-free gnocchi. They do small, classic gnocchi as most of us know really well, but also a variety of different fillings can be purchased. The gluten-free gnocchi from the brand “Patarò” are made from water and potatoes only. They are vegan (without egg and milk) and suitable for celiacs.

A new product comes with nervousness
I won’t lie: before I tried the new gnocchi, and the first time after eating it, I was incredibly worried. Many celiacs will know this feeling: the uncertainty whether the new product is really gluten-free or not. Will I get a stomach ache and/or a bloated belly if it’s not? One observes oneself in detail and is worried.
So first of all to take awy your worry: the gnocchi filled with tomato and cheese from Patarò that I chose were really gluten-free and I did not experience any consequences after eating them.
Gluten-free gnocchi – golden brown and creamy inside
The product, new to me, has positively surprised me on several levels! The gnocchi from Patarò taste excellent. In addition, they are really gluten-free. I first sautéed the stuffed potato treats with onions in olive oil. They staid in the pan until they had a golden brown color on the outside.
Of course, at this point I had to try. My thoughts? Super tasty! They’re not as crispy on the outside as you might expect and know from the smaller gnocchi, but the creamy warm tomato-y cheese filling just caressed the soul and has every potential to be the new comfort food.
Risk: no ingredient information
Unfortunately, the gluten-free gnocchi from Patarò came without proper packaging and, accordingly, without any indication of ingredients. So I set out on a search and browsed the company’s website – and not only in English, but also in Italian and Spanish. Of course, I took a translation program to help me.
It seems that the packaging here in the Italian supermarket was simply incomplete. In fact, on the website, all the products looked slightly different and had more packaging. However, I couldn’t find online the exact stuffed gnocchi I purchased at Centro Italia . So I read everything else: the company philosophy, their history, and their views. For myself, I decided that I would take the risk of trying them.
Excellency without a belly ache
With complete success! The gluten-free gnocchi have been excellent and I did not get any stomach ache.
Delicate and thought through
In the next step, I added herbs and spices and a tomato sugo for my portion of gluten-free gnocchi. Thus, the gnocchi were ideally supported in their creaminess. Served directly with a little Parmesan, the dish is ready quickly and fills you for long while making you happy. The gnocchi taste as they were freshly prepared, delicate and thoughtful. One can store the unopened package in the refrigerator for a few weeks.
